I'm not sure what you mean by larger. Cuticles are usually unwanted. We certainly want them healthy as opposed to unhealthy; but usually we use cuticle creams to dissolve and push them back gently to decrease them. Next a cuticle oil is applied to keep them soft and conditioned. Perhaps you're referring to the half-moons you can see under the nail beds at the cuticle. Those do appear when a nail is nice and healthy. A professional manicure is a fabulous way to get the nails in nice shape and then you can maintain them thereafter. Ask your manicurist or beauty supply sales-lady what to purchase to maintain healthy nails at home. I imagine she will say emery boards, cuticle cream and orangewood stick (the pointy end is good for cleaning under the free edge and the other end is good for pushing the cuticle back), cuticle oil, a base coat, and topcoat. A good hand cream or lotion is advisable as well. You can soak them in warm water and a little liquid soap before the manicure. Obviously remove old polish before you begin. A good cheap alternative to conditioning cuticles if you don't have the time or budget to purchase a lot of items or a professional manicure is to simply use a tiny bit of olive oil on your cuticles each night.
