Uh, yeah.

Let me say that I was in NYC recently and did not buy anything at Century 21 -- an absolute madhouse on a Friday lunch hour. I couldn't get my Zen-like shopping focus together, and they don't let you try things on in the aisles anymore. What's with that?

I did finally wear my 60s Pucci-like print dress out for dinner there with my beyond-styling friend Linda who designs shoes... and she liked it so now I want to wear it more, but the temperature in TO has dropped to 13 degrees. Somehow I'll work it in. Linda recommends NAU designs, when they come out of bankruptcy. I can't wait!

So yeah, the pedicure. I finally decided that I'll try one of these cheap pedicure places and chose one near me on Dundas. They did my feet and nails in about 40 minutes for $40 -- amazing. Efficient service if a little brusque. They cater to the woman in a hurry. I got a little nervous when she started to trim the cuticles on my feet. I looked around desperately for the "barbisol" or similar sterilizer. Didn't see one...

The manicure lasted only days -- there were trendy corners on my fingernails and the polish started to chip almost immediately so I pulled it off. That was fun.

The pedicure lasted a long time - 3 or 4 weeks, maybe. I chose a lovely deep raspberry colour. Two weeks ago, I noticed that there was a bump on my nail above the "luna" on my right big toe. I took the polish off a couple of days later to see a white mark under the toenail. Now, it's spread to front of my toenail, and the nail is broken above the luna and is starting to lift off. Lovely.

It's a fungus, I'm sure of it. The toe will have to be amputated. You think I'm joking. My mother got psoriasis and fungus under every one of her nails and she was never able to get rid of it -- 20 years she's been struggling with it. She eventually had to have her left leg amputated below the knee -- because of the fungus!

Not really, it was heart/diabetes...
